I’m still feeling under the weather today with cough and nasal congestion so I decided not to attend my family’s New Year’s Eve gathering to prevent anyone else catching whatever it is I’ve got (if it is even something that is contagious) and I’ve been taking Benadryl cough syrup which is making me drowsy. I’ve spent the day practically asleep. Anyway, I’ve asked ChatGPT to generate 20 questions that I can answer right before the turn of the new year, I only have about a minute to answer each one. Here we go:
Here are 20 reflective and goal-oriented questions to ask yourself as the New Year approaches:
Reflection on the Past Year
- What were the most significant moments or achievements of the past year?
– First thing that comes to mind is the work-life balance, I think I’ve spent the whole year taking it easy which is a true achievement for someone my age (41 years old!). I’m sure there are other things but this is the only thing that comes to mind at the moment. - What challenges did I face, and how did I overcome them?
– The biggest challenge was having to deal with unruly employees. I would say we are still in the process of overcoming the challenges. - What lessons did I learn that will guide me moving forward?
– I think it’s a good thing to make business decisions when the issue is related to business, and to not make personal decisions. Nothing personal, just business. - How did I grow as a person this year?
– I don’t even think I grew much as a person this year, I went from being quite pensive to just not really caring much. I think they call this the ‘unmasking’ phase of autism. Just trying my best to be true to myself and stop pretending. - What am I most proud of accomplishing?
– Similar to Q1. - Are there any regrets or unfinished goals I need to revisit?
– I probably regret spending too much money on nonsensical things. I think I really need to change bad spending habits. - How did I nurture my relationships with family, friends, and loved ones?
– I’ve always been respectful with family and friends, I always try to show up for them. - Did I take care of my mental, emotional, and physical health this year?
– I think I’ve neglected my physical health this year. - What habits or routines served me well, and which ones didn’t?
– I’ve maintained my weight this year which is great, it hasn’t been easy to keep the weight off but I’ve done quite well in maintaining a ‘normal’ BMI. My weight is currently at 46.xxKgs, which I think is quite good for my height (154cm). - What was the most fulfilling experience I had this year?
– Every moment that I’m able to spend with my family is fulfilling. Last week, Christmas day was when I was with all of them.
Vision for the New Year
- What do I want to achieve in the coming year?
– Focus on general health and exercise. I would like to include stretching and strength training into my daily routine. - How do I want to feel this time next year?
– Healthier. I got sick 3 times this year, which is almost a record for the past decade. My immune system is not usually this weak. I have to remember to keep taking my multivitamins, which I have not been consistent with. - What areas of my life need more attention (e.g., health, career, relationships)?
– All of the above. - What habits or skills do I want to develop or improve?
– I need to develop better spending habits. I still want to learn how to play the piano/keyboard. - Who do I want to become by the end of the year?
– A better version of myself. I wish I could be more philanthropic. - What is one big goal I want to focus on in the new year?
– Improve my nutrition and just drink more water. - How will I create balance in my life?
– I don’t ever want to put too much on my plate. I want to improve on my current situation without drastically changing too much. Hopefully less relaxation next year and work just a bit harder on my career goals. - What will I say “no” to, to make room for what truly matters?
– Anything that will compromise on time with loved ones. - How will I measure my progress and celebrate my successes?
– My progress will be measured by financial gains career-wise. Health-wise I should feel better and not get sick as often as this year. I don’t really believe in celebrating success, I prefer to remain humble and just content with whatever comes my way. Oh, probably share my successes through giving to others. - What is one word or theme that will guide me throughout the year?
– Just be yourself, nothing more & nothing less.
Happy new year 2025 people!
