I just woke up from what was supposed to be a nap. I think I went for a nap around 5pm or so, and it’s almost midnight! Because I accidentally skipped dinner, I had plain saltines with cashew cream cheese and “patifu” which is a tofu paste, a vegan version of pate de foie. I’m still 47.xx kgs. I went down to 46.90 kgs at some point, and then went back up 2 weeks ago when I started progestin. Progestin is just evil to anyone’s weight loss journey – it causes bloating and intense increase in appetite. I’m on day 5 off cyclic progestin so it’s day 1 of my period, and I had menstrual cramps all morning, which I would place at 6/10 on the pain scale (which did hurt!). We went walking around, the pain subsided completely after that. Walking is the last thing you want to do, but it’s the first thing you should do when you have menstrual cramps.
I woke up with body aches from scuba diving yesterday. I went with my older brother, my niece and my twin sister. We did a double dive with Underwater Centre, located inside Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort. A double dive works this way: you do a dive, come back up to the boat and take a 45-min break, then you go back down for another dive, at another location. We were charged SCR 1200 for the double dive (so that’s SCR 600 per dive), which is the resident rate. It’s well worth it. It’s “whale shark season” so the water was riddled with algae, visibility wasn’t so good which was expected. Unfortunately, we didn’t see a whale shark. I did see a juvenile white-tip shark however, which I honestly prefer over whale sharks. I also saw a massive sting ray that freaked me out. Remember Steve Irwin? He died from a sting ray sticking its barb straight into his heart. So large stingrays freak me out. They’re beautiful, fascinating creatures though. I also saw a moray, but I can’t identify the specific type because I haven’t gone through my marine species book in years – yikes! Someone’s got some studying to do! I wanted to see a stonefish, which is pretty common in Seychelles dives, my niece said she saw one, but I didn’t. Underwater Centre don’t rent out dive computers so I decided to pay for the Oceanic+ scuba diving subscription. It costs $9.99 per month, which I had to pay for just for the 2 morning dives. It was well worth it! The logs are automatically synced with the app. I had to borrow fins, which seems to always be a problem now because they never have proper fins for smaller sizes. Earlier this year when I was scuba diving in Maldives they let me wear snorkelling fins to scuba, which was ridiculous. Except I only found out about it when I was underwater, flipping & flapping my way through the currents. I was exhausting myself trying to maneuver through. I need to get some proper fins, then I can finally stop renting equipment. I don’t need the best fins, I just need one that is sleek & appropriate for scuba diving.
Scuba diving is not typically a Seychellois hobby. Not many locals scuba dive. So whenever we go diving, we only see foreigners, i.e. tourists and expatriates. Seychellois that go scuba diving either work in the field, or it’s required as part of their job (e.g. marine biologists).
I’m currently binge-watching Evil Lives Here videos on Facebook.
